One of the many reasons the Heavy Cat Studios environments and backgrounds art team is so popular is because their work is so versatile. We’ve developed new designs such as these for every kind of commercial project from book covers to video games to posters.
Our pricing model gives us additional flexibility and has allowed our talented team to produce enormous volumes of unique work on aggressive schedules. This puts us among the most competitive studios in the industry.
The utility of these designs doesn’t stop at production art, however. Many of our clients have used the skills of our artists to develop storyboard sequences, concept art which can later be adapted into 3D environments, and to design single-style backgrounds for both comics and manga. Some of our own comic publications have made use of this technique.
As you can see, if you can describe it, one or more of our artists can paint it.
Our development process for works such as these involves four phases, and we give our clients two opportunities to provide notes for our production staff and to request changes. Every design starts out as a basic sketch, which is advanced to a finished pencil once our client has signed off on the shapes and proportions in the design.
Step three is a flat color pass, where we ask again for feedback from our client. When the colors have been approved, we move to a shaded and finished design. We’ve used this process for hundreds of successful projects.
We hope you will consider Heavy Cat Studios for your next environment or background design project.
